Dismantle

4 July 2013

Tray has been removed from the Chevy today.

Bought a second hand rear axle - Ford F100 9". Need to decide on LSD or not, then source centre.

5 July 2013

Removed the front panels and radiator. Struggled with the rust on the bolts to start with but bought out the rattle gun and rattled off most of the fender bolts without any broken bolts. The small studs holding the side step on were too rusted to be saved, so we will have to weld on new studs.

Found the air conditioning today, very cool pop up with the bug catcher.

6 July 2013

Disconnected everything from the cab today

Sean was in charge of removing the steering column and had some trouble removing it. Had a quick Google and found we weren’t the only ones. Sean worked it out by unbolting the steering box first, then undid the plate on the engine side. Undid a grub screw which allows you to then remove the worm gear. This then allows you to remove the steering column.

 Sean contemplating column.

8 July 2013

Dropped the gearbox and tails shaft off and are ready to remove the motor.

Picked up the tray from the shed and bought it back to my work shop to work on the mounts and replace the timber tray.

Spent some time trying to find a supplier in Australia of the double hump SS slides for the tray.
