The Arrival in Melbourne.
David King's Email:
“Hi Alistair,
The 55 is out of the container and on the ground she didn’t pass the first quarantine inspection so she will be cleaned next week then reinspected
I will shoot you an email when she is cleared and on the way down to my factory.
Regards DK"
The Road Trip & Pick Up.
We received confirmation of the Chevy clearing customs and quarantine after 3 cleans and inspections. I had organised my bro (Lyn) to do a dash to Melbourne with me in his F250 and car trailer to pick the Chevy from David King – American Used, Tyabb.
We left Adelaide at 4.30am and arrived to pick up the Chevy in the afternoon. After a chat and a look at David’s cars we were back on the road to Ballarat to stay overnight.
A steak and a bottle of red, a good nights sleep, back on the road to Strathalbyn, we had to stop for the mandatory dimmy at a petrol stop as this makes it an official road trip - an official Punshon road trip tradition. Sent a text to Sean saying the Chevy was on board and we'd had our official dimmy stop on the way back. We arrived back in Strath mid afternoon, met with Sean and unloaded the Chevy into the garage, where the restoration will take place.
Loading at American Used.
In transit at Horsham.
The Chevy in it's new home for the next few months.
